Interview Coaching for Senior Managers and Leaders (UK)
Walk into your interview with a clear leadership narrative, proof of impact, and a delivery plan that holds under pressure across panels, competencies, values, and presentations.
You’re already qualified. Your CV has worked. But how do you prepare for an executive interview?
What wins now is how you position your leadership impact, communicate your commercial or organisational contributions, and stay calm and convincing under scrutiny.
This is where interview coaching pays off. It enables you to be the best version of yourself, whether in a virtual interview or in person.
I have coached people in interview preparation, including mock interviews, one-on-one senior-level interviews, civil service interviews, industry panel interviews, and internal promotional interviews, across both private and public sectors.
Interview techniques can vary, and I can prepare you mentally and emotionally. Confidence is increased by feeling prepared.
Competency-based interviews are designed to elicit deeper answers about behaviours and skills that are core to the role. How you answer these can increase your chances of advancing to the next stage.
In 2 to 4 coaching sessions, you’ll build your story bank, sharpen your answers, and rehearse for a mock interview, so you show up confident and credible across multi-stage panels, competency and values assessments, stakeholder interviews, and presentations.
A surprising number of people seek help with interviews because these are key life moments that can change their future. If you are midlife, there are options for career development, including a career change after 40.
"I sought coaching because I wanted to feel more confident and authentic in interviews, and working with Maureen made a huge difference. The impact was real; I secured a promotion and continued coaching afterwards to better handle workplace conflict with confidence. I’d absolutely recommend it. It’s not just about career progression; it’s about backing yourself and communicating in a way that actually works."

Confidential • 1:1 • Practical support for executive interviews when:
- Seeking promotion or a new role
- Facing panel interviews, competency questions, stakeholder rounds, or a presentation
- Struggling to translate your experience into a clear leadership impact
- Confident in the work, but not consistently confident in your interview performance
- Competing against skilled people and needing to differentiate.
The Outcome
- A clear answer to “Why this role, why now?” that feels authentic and compelling
- A leadership narrative that matches what the panel is hiring for
- A story bank with strong, evidence-led examples (impact, stakeholders, risk, delivery)
- A plan for multi-stage processes to keep your message consistent and credible.
How We Work Together
Step 1 — Clarify what the panel is really hiring for
We identify the “success profile” behind the job description: outcomes, leadership behaviours, stakeholders, pressures, and what success looks like in the first 90 days.
Step 2 — Build your story bank and message
We craft a strong opening pitch, your key themes, and a set of examples you can flex across competency/values questions. You’ll learn how to evidence impact clearly, without sounding rehearsed.
Step 3 — Rehearse under pressure
We run a mock interview (and presentation prep if needed), practice follow-ups, and tighten delivery so you sound calm, credible, and specific.
Includes:
- 2–4 private 1:1 coaching sessions across 2–4 weeks (tailored to your timeline)
- Between-session support so you’re not doing this alone
- Mock interview practice with feedback you can use immediately
- Support for panel interviews, competency frameworks, and presentations/case studies
- A personalised interview strategy so that you feel prepared.
If your interview is close, we can prioritise the highest-impact elements first.
You'll Leave With:
- A concise leadership narrative to open the interview
- A strong, specific “Why this role/organisation?” answer
- A story bank linked to likely competencies
- A set of impact statements (commercial/operational/people outcomes)
- A plan for difficult questions (gaps, setbacks, failures, stakeholder conflict).

Recently, three senior executives all received job offers after several tough rounds. It works.
I had the privilege of working with Maureen Adams during a pivotal moment in my career as I transitioned into a new role. Her executive coaching was instrumental in guiding me through two job application processes, including all the interview preparation stages. Her insights and preparation tips were spot-on, giving me the confidence to succeed and showcasing the leadership impact she has on her clients.
After several interviews, I found a role and company that aligns with my career goals. Having someone by my side who truly understood the process of transitioning careers and provided executive coaching whenever I needed gave me confidence, motivation, and a sense of professionalism. The interview preparation activities, including visualization, were particularly beneficial in helping me positively prepare for interviews.
Will, Project Manager
I engaged with Maureen for executive coaching due to an acute lack of confidence and a growing fear of interviews. She helped me to reframe the situation and reconsider my dialogue, which leaned towards the negative. With her guidance in interview preparation, I was able to navigate the interview calmly and comprehensively, and ultimately, she had a significant leadership impact that helped me to get the job I wanted. I couldn't have done it without her support. Orla, Healthcare Technologist
